That cat was Awesome, anyway the days of those long guitar solos are diminishing seems out of date..

Yeah Henrix was at one with his guitar. What makes him special for me was his inventiveness. In his day almost everything was experimental but nevertheless restrained. Jimi Hendrix really pushed the envelope. Who knows maybe it was the acid.

Jimi Hendrix could throw himself onto the wind - and trust it to carry him. And it did. He could throw his net wide and call in the ghosts and the very gods and they would swim for him in the torrents he created. Anyone else they would have ripped to shreds.
But he paid for it in the curious passivity with which he lived from minute to minute. I listen to the older players who have learned to manage the forces which ruined Jimi. He had genius but he never achieved wisdom.
