|  |  3878878 | Oct 9, 2007 9:16am | | Yep. The thing about Zappa's playing was his innovation. I have a link to a performance where he trades licks with Steve Vai. Vai is fantastic of course and is technically way beyond Zappa, however Zappa's stuff is just more interesting to listen to, for me. His solos are structured around very interesting musical ideas. His live version of Sexual Harassment in the Workplace is brilliant. Vai said there were times when Zappa's playing stunned him not for it's technicality but for it's scope. |
